The world OR the Word?

Waking up in a gloomy Wednesday, I was greeted with a rainy day which rarely happens here in California. Despite the pouring rain, I was convicted by the Holy Spirit to share the good news. I was hesitant to go out due to my chronic allergies. The Lord gave me legs to traverse from one place to another. He also gave me hands which I can use to give to those who are in need and a mouth which could proclaim the gospel of the Lord. I then glanced at my food stocks and saw that I still have stacks of cereal boxes and canned goods that I could hand out. Grabbing onto my bible tracts, I then distributed them one per box. I got dressed and was ready to head out to sow the seeds into the field.

Food for thought and thought for the Word.

3 bags down and ready.

After taking my few steps outside, I was surprised with the abrupt change in the weather. The rain suddenly stopped pouring. I thank the Lord with all my heart despite me bringing my raincoat to counter the harsh weather.
Rainy day in California.

10 minutes into walking I started complaining about the heavy load of the goods I was carrying and complaining to myself that this is a bad idea. I just wanted to go home. A sudden thought came to mind that even Christ carried the 300 pound cross while beaten and all bloodied. Who am I to complain? May the Lord forgive me for my folly head.

Heading my way to the 99 cents store, I saw a man sitting at a corner eating a sandwich. I handed him one of my plastic goodies and told him "God Bless you" which he replied, "thanks buddy". Another opportunity was lost when I should have asked for his name. I failed to remember it so I could pray for him.

God bless this man.

After a half an hour of walking, I then decided to drop my goodies on a bus stop to go buy something at a nearby store. Going back to retrieve my stuff, I realized that the bag I dropped on the bus stop was gone. I then glanced around and saw a scavenger who showed symptoms of being mentally impaired and talking to herself while roaming around the parking lot. Puzzled on how I could ask her name, I decided not to. I was more than happy that someone took it who was more in need physically and spiritually. May the tract that has been planted in that box be sprouted with the conviction, blessings and goodness of the Lord when she sees it.

A precious soul who found the only way to salvation.

May the Lord bless her tenfold.

Tired, yet exceedingly glad, I then decided that it was time for me to use the bus to go home. Glancing at my phone, I still have 15 minutes to spare so I decided to search around. After a few minutes of walking I then saw a man sleeping near one of the stores. I then thanked the Lord that another opportunity has been given to me to proclaim the gospel.

Approaching the man, I realized he was in the midst of slumber. Not knowing how to approach him, I gambled my way and greeted him with an "excuse me sir?". He then opened his eyes with a serious expression on his countenance. I then gave him my goodies and shared the gospel that he is loved and every good thing that he receives is from the Lord Jesus Christ. He then thanked me to which I asked for his name, which is "Roy".  I then sent my regards and waved him a goodbye to which he went back to sleep. May the Lord grant him the things he needed according to the Lord's will.

Our friend Roy.

Walking back into my home, I was filled with joy that another day has been dedicated to the Lord. Another day reminding me to take everyday things which are granted to me for his own purpose. We are good not to be saved but we are good because we are saved. For our works are nothing but filthy rags and most people think the way to salvation is to outweigh the good with the bad, but this will never be the case. For we all have sinned and fallen short for his own glory. Despite not getting my unemployment for a month and a week, the Lord need need not remind me, on the the basic necessities I need. He only needs to remind me that I need Christ and Him alone. To know Him, to walk with Him and to serve Him with all my life.

You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot. You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
