Labor in the Laundromat
Going to the laundry this morning, I was in short of change so I pulled out my phone searching for the nearest open restaurant walked there to get a burrito. Returning to do finish my laundries a homeless black gentleman suddenly entered to charge his phone. I felt the Holy Spirit once again to share the Word of the Lord. Broke the ice by asking if he wanted to split the burrito with me. He then obliged which I am happy with. Then I asked for his name which is Mark so we could pray together. After praying I asked if I can have a small talk with him. He told me that his stuff was outside where he was going to eat. We had small talks about the bible and things related to it. Little did I know that he knew a lot about the bible, going as far as "it is easier or a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the Kingdom of God(Matt 19:24)" was not to be taken literally.
In the middle of the conversation, he suddenly pulled a blunt filled with dried marijuana leaves and began smoking in front of me. I know the potential risks of convicting someone the demons inside them being shook which could trigger somebody — I still took the risk by saying "Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own(1 Cor 6:19)" and "Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour(1 Peter 5:8)." He gives me his shameful excuse that God himself has made marijuana which is naturally made unlike methampetamines which is chemically made. This has been an excuse for a lot of modern day self professing Christians but little do they know that God also made poison ivy which is natural but yet, no different from being poisonous than marijuana physically and spiritually, he still insisted he was correct and giving me the excuse of having plenty of problems everytime a second passes. Ended up swaying the verses "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight(Prov 3:5-6)." May the Lord Jesus Christ convict and have mercy on his soul.
Knowing that I brought my bible that time which is my the last weapon in my arsenal. I asked him if he wanted it, he was reluctant at first because he was concerned about me not having a bible. But I told him that his soul is more important with what I currently have. I handed him my bible and he gladly obliged. Before we departed I told him to start his morning day with a prayer, read the bible and end with it as well. We happily ended our conversation with smiles and a God Bless you.
Going back home, I instantly listened to my favorite praise and worship song while folding my laundries and I was filled with exceeding joy and gladness. I thank the Lord that he gave me another day and a prayer has been granted which is for him to use me into his field of labor. May the Lord's name be glorified further.
